Crystal FM grease is formulated with at unique non-soap synthetic thickener that is
incompatible with most conventional H-1 approved greases. Mixtures of Crystal FM grease
and other greases can be expected to soften and/or partially liquefy in service.
In order to achieve the overall performance benefits of Crystal FM grease, it is vital
that bearings be purged of all competitive grease. Most antifriction bearings should be greased
with Crystal FM grease until clear Crystal FM grease is observed being extruded from the bearing.
The bearing should then be re-greased at 1/2 the normal interval to displace any remaining mixture
of Crystal FM and competitive grease. Once purged of competitive grease, the normal
re-grease interval
can be followed.
Because Crystal FM is clear and colorless in appearance, any admixture with a competitive grease is easily observed.
If the displaced grease is cloudy or discolored, it is most likely a mixture. You may expect this
mixture to be soft, runny and a source of a performance complaint.
Please be sure that all personnel responsible for lubrication are aware of the incompatibility of
Crystal FM grease and most other H-1 approved greases, and the simple procedures to purge
bearings.
